With nearly 20 years of experience as a ceramics educator, studio manager, and kiln repair technician, I specialize in keeping ceramic studios running safely and efficiently. I’ve worked hands-on with kilns in academic, community, and private studio settings, giving me a practical understanding of both immediate repairs and long-term maintenance. My goal isn’t just to fix what’s broken, but to help studio owners and teachers understand their equipment, prevent future issues, and extend the life of their kilns.
In addition to on-site repair work, I travel nationally to teach hands-on workshops in electric kiln maintenance and repair. These workshops are designed for colleges, universities, and art centers seeking to strengthen their ceramics programs by reducing downtime and building in-house knowledge. By training faculty, staff, and studio members to confidently maintain and troubleshoot their kilns, I help institutions create safer studios, extend equipment lifespan, and develop a more self-sufficient ceramics community.
My current body of work where I seek the tension and energy the negative space creates in each piece, and to create undulating surfaces capable of showcasing the wonderful variety of wood fired surfaces.
